At Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County, we are proud to offer internship opportunities to both undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in working in the fields of psychology, social work, public administration, communications and similar fields. Interns receive supervision from our licensed and trained professionals and directly assist them with training, education, therapy and outreach initiatives at CACDC.

  • Counseling Intern (Graduate Level)

    For this internship opportunity, students will work with the CACDC team to provide individual and group therapy/counseling to children and their non-offending family members. Counseling interns will use integrative therapy models and techniques as well as carry out trauma assessments. Apply to this internship through Terri Donsbach at



  • Client Services Intern (Undergraduate Level)

    Interns will engage in short-term case management as well as asses mental and social functioning of children and their family members. Apply to this internship through Priscilla Alvarado at



  • Development Interns (Undergraduate and Graduate Levels) 

    CACDC’s development team is responsible for fundraising, event planning, community education, marketing/communications, donor relations & stewardship and volunteer management. The Development Department is not accepting applications at this time.

    • Communications Interns The communications intern will assist in CACDC’s communication strategy, including social media, blogs, web content, as well as metrics and success evaluations.
    • Development Interns – The development intern helps the CACDC team with education and outreach initiatives, along with internal development functions. Students will get first-hand experience when it comes to planning and executing educational events and training sessions pertaining to how to respond to and prevent child abuse. They will also learn the daily operations of a development function of a nonprofit.
