Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County has opened it’s Wise County location. Community Church in Decatur has graciously donated the partial use of their space as the Center looks for a permanent office space in the county.
Staff began working in the office on June 29, 2020.
The first forensic interviews were held on July 1st.
This is the first location in Wise County the Center has operated. It is the Center’s third location, along with offices in Lewisville and Denton. Now, children and families can receive the full array of services offered by the Center in Decatur.
In January, Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County signed memorandums of understanding with the District Attorney’s Office and local law enforcement in Wise County to coordinate the investigation and prosecution of severe child abuse cases.
Before 2020, Wise County was the largest county in Texas without a child advocacy center. Families received courtesy services from Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County, but had to drive to Denton for their forensic interview, and not all services were available to them.
